Flaurling, Austria: Hour 21 of 24skate #11
Dear skaters and friends around the world,
after my alpine opening of the 24skate #11 on Saturday (see entry for Mittertal) my real skating part was scheduled for Sunday morning.
The challenge for me was, that for the first time during a 24skate I was not at home, but travelling in an area close to Innsbruck, Austria.
Satellite pictures are available for almost every square meter of the planet, but still it is hard to find out, if a road is skatable or not.
Contact to skaters in Innsbruck had not lead to results, so I had scouted the area a bit a few days before and found a promising long distance bicycle path in the
valley of the river Inn close to a village called Flaurling.
It looked this way westwards:

and this way eastwards:

So I came back on Sunday morning and asked a man on his morning walk to take a picture of me.

May be I should have scouted for a bit more distance, because the path became a bit narrow and woodily

opening pretty views to the river Inn and the impressive mountain Hohe Salve.

Fortunately the trees stepped back, but still kept the path shadowy

The area was flat except at a small hill with a picturesque panorama

and a skater friedly downhill section.

Several parallel and interconnected lanes for agriculural purpose allowed a choice of the ones with the smoothest tarmac.

At the end of the 24skate hour my GPS watch gave me a result of 24,4 kilometers. A bit worse than last year, but I had to do a few slow-downs for orientation and/or
taking pictures. So I was quite content with my performance. Time to do a post-hour selfie

and to get back to my starting point

where I was reminded of the 24skate's internationality by some Chinese signs in the middle of Austria.

All in all this was a very nice skate in a very pleasant surrounding. This bike path deserves more skating explorers.
Best regards
Clemens
