Munich, Germany: 24skate #19, June 12

Day 2 of the 24skate had a similar Bavarian white-blue sky like day 1 here,

but it was much warmer. After the leisure skate with my daughter the day before, today was the day to check what was left of my speed skating capabilities after very little skating in the months before. With that little training I trusted my legs to choose a stride they could sustain for an hour and observed what happened. It was okay in the beginning, but the heat demanded its tribute. So I tried mental cooling: I imagined not to skate in circles on hot tarmac on the Octoberfest field, but along a lagoon filled with fresh turqoise water, a light breeze coming in from the sea, dolphins jumping out of the water. A seagull accompanies my skate and offers me a fresh hering. "Dear friend, sorry to tell you, that I am a vegetarians." [Is this the result of creativity and imagination or simply a symptom of exhaustion and dehydration?]. The trick worked a bit and I did not slow down significantly. When St. Peter and Paul's (church nearby) closed the hour with its bells, my odometer incicated 25.5 kilometers. I was pretty satisfied.

I did a few cooling meters in the alleys alongside the field with their shadows growing longer in the evening sun

got fresh again for 24skate posing

And made some experiments with the camera of my mobile:

To conclude this report, here is another method of mental cooling ;-)

Keep skating and living peacefully and happily
Best regards
Clemens
