Mims, Florida, USA: 24skate #22, May 11 2025


Hi Clemens,

Jessica and I skated together for 2hrs as planned, however, due to rain the night before and an approaching morning storm, we opted to move our starting point further east on the same trail to avoid wet pavement and possible bad weather at our original location in Osteen.

We started out from Mims, Florida where the Florida Coast to Coast trail is about 6 miles (9.66km) from its current eastern terminus. Skating mostly north, we had a very nice tail wind heading outbound. At our turnaround point, the wind picked up and we had to work much harder to make it back to our starting point in 2hrs. The timing worked out great and we arrived with less than a minute to spare.

Some cloud cover gave us cooler temperatures but this week has been getting hotter as we move into our Florida hurricane season. We had hoped for more attendees but I think the threat of rain that day deterred people from coming out.

We skated 24.27miles (39km) each from 8am to 10am local time. I included a screenshot from my Garmin activity with our few photos. We were glad to be able to skate your event again this year and thanks for keeping this event going.
